The sixth and seventh grade art classes at Gunston Middle School are engaged in some exciting clay projects this quarter. In 6th grade students are creating amazing clay boxes that are also animals. These students are learning clay slab construction techniques, where they join corners and sides with slip.
The seventh graders, by contrast, are learning to seal a
cylindrical forms that will become mugs that will be fully functional
when finished. In both projects students are combining clay
construction skills with creativity to come up with unique projects.
